Warwickshire Red Bag scheme update

Time is now running out to implement the Red Bag scheme in your care home.

Warwickshire County Council are aiming to support the Older People care home market in implementing the scheme before the end of March 2020.

All relevant providers should have now received contact from WCC. They should now either have already implemented Red Bag in their home or be working towards it via their nominated ‘Red Bag Champion’ alongside WCC.

There are now over 70 residential and nursing homes across Warwickshire using the scheme to help facilitate a quick, safe and well organised handover of care when their residents are admitted to hospital.

A dedicated Red Bag is packed containing everything needed during their hospital stay therefore improving communication and facilitating an overall smoother admission and discharge process.

Feedback from those homes using the scheme has shown a clear reduction in instances of lost belongings and paperwork, as well as positive feedback from care staff and residents.

If you are unsure of your current progress with the scheme or need more support please do not hesitate to contact Lorna Allen lornaallen@warwickshire.gov.uk
