Constipation can be dangerous ~ recognise the signs

Constipation can be a common complaint in care customers but it is important that it is treated quickly before it becomes a big problem.

LeDeR (Learning Disabilities Mortality Review Programme) have published a helpful briefing guide for carers that is applicable to all care customers.

It explains what constipation is and why it can be dangerous, providing advice on how to recognise constipation in customers and how to manage it.

If a person can’t tell you about their pooing, you will need to observe and record their bowel movements.

Constipation can be life threatening so THINK and TALK constipation – it may save a life.
