The appeal of meals on wheels

To support healthy, independent living, Warwickshire County Council is encouraging residents aged over 50, or adults with disabilities, to find out more about the county’s meals on wheels service.

The service, which is delivered in Warwickshire by Apetito, provides hot meals directly to people’s homes up to seven days a week, 365 days a year.

The meals are tasty and nutritious and the home-delivery system means that Warwickshire’s vulnerable residents are able to maintain independence in their own home for longer.

Apetito offers customers five main meal options per day with an optional soup course and a choice of hot or cold dessert, and can cater to dietary requirements including allergies, veganism and keeping kosher or halal.

Customers also benefit from wellbeing checks carried out by Apetito’s delivery drivers, and many find the service to be an important source of social interaction.

Quotes from customers who benefit from the meals on wheels service include: “Thank you for your care and time to chat”, “I look forward to my hot meal every day”, “The meals are excellent value for money, good choices and for someone in [my relative’s] situation, invaluable service. Thank you very much – we are very happy with the service”.

Referral to the Apetito Meals on Wheels service is very easy; customers can simply self-refer either by telephone: 01926 889511 or e-mail
